Managing Stress Excessive stress negatively impacts physical health, emotional well-being, the capacity to think clearly and your most valued relationships. Modern research finds that to effectively combat stress you must become more effective in dealing with the sources of stress, taking quiet time for yourself, eating well and exercising. Kundalini Yoga works to strengthen the nervous system and balance the glandular system as inoculations against a demanding life. Bioenergetics helps you hear the not so subtle message from your body, activates your ability to reach out for support and empowers you to set necessary limits by saying "No." In this workshop we will use Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, Imagery, Journaling, Bioenergetics and other Self-Help Tools to help monitor your on-going relationship with stress and we will take time to develop a plan for reducing the stress in your life. Participants will: Complete a Self assessment Identify sources of stress Develop intervention strategies Wear comfortable clothing, allowing freedom of movement. Bring a mat or beach towel for relaxation. Those in healthcare professions may find the information in this course a useful complement to their work. Using Imagery for Health and Wellness Life experience is held in the brain as a series of electrical patterns. The body responds to those patterns as though they were real. This is why top athletes practice their craft with imagery. It is also why cancer patients have benefited from imagery techniques. In a relaxed state, internal images can foster creativity, deepen selfknowledge, develop new skills and support healing and recovery. Class focus will be tailored to the interests of the participants. The goal will be to enhance your skill in using your internal images to create the kind of life you would like. Imagery is a way to increase the behaviors you want and to reduce the behaviors you do not want. Bring a journal, a pen, some crayons. Dress comfortably, to allow for some stretching, breathing and centering. Bring a mat or beach towel for relaxation. Those in healthcare professions may find the information in this course a useful complement to their work. Approved for 3.0 contact hours by the California Board of Registered Nurses, provider number CEP 13960 and for 2.5 Continuing Education Credits by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, Provider #PCE1361

Introduction to Bioenergetics Exercise Finally, an exercise class that deeply respects all of who you are. Bioenergetics seeks to bring about the healthy integration of the body and the mind so that you have the energy to recover pleasure and joy in living. What you think can affect how you feel. The reverse is equally true; what you feel affects how you think. Both significantly impact the physical body. Experience a gentle but progressive workout that uses body and breath and voice to explore the feelings that hide behind the tensions in the body. This approach is a good physical exercise focused on grounding and containing the energy of the body while accessing the emotional life. In this way, safe, appropriate expression of feeling without losing that important connection to self or others is developed. Goals and Results: 1. Release tensions that restrict life 2. Ground mind and emotions into the body 3. Be comfortable in your own skin. 4. Enjoy the simple pleasures in life. 5. Provide a supportive connection to self and others 6. Allow greater freedom in thought and feeling and expression Dress comfortably, to allow for freedom of movement in exercise.

Intro to Meditation Meditation is a tool for developing mental focus and attention, resulting in a deeper, richer experience of life. It is as old as humankind. Its basic premise is "whatever you focus on, you strengthen." Modern research of meditation describes a practice that can reduce stress, increase compassion, improve concentration and activate new, healthier patterns in the nervous and glandular systems. Most people can achieve a relaxed, yet energized, state of body/mind. With regular practice, your life can be supported in important and valuable ways. Dress comfortably, to allow for freedom of movement in exercise.

Creative Journaling for Personal Growth Rooted in the work of Ira Progoff, C.G. Jung, Depth and Transpersonal Psychologies, this approach to journaling draws upon the wisdom of the body, the mind and the spirit to explore the current realities of your personal life. The setting is safe, supportive and non-judgmental. The work is private. The process allows for a deepening of understanding of important relationships: with significant others, with work, with health, with any role in your life (parent, spouse, world citizen, provider, healer, friend) that you would like to explore. We will use some gentle movement, breath and imagery to open to the creative process. Bring a journal, a pen, some crayons. Dress comfortably, to allow for some stretching.

Working with your Dreams "Every night we visit a fantastic realm where impossible things happen-- and we receive one of life's most undervalued gifts: our dreams. Creative inspirations, keys to understanding our past and our problems, links to the shared consciousness of all humankind…dreams are nothing short of miraculous." As Jeremy Taylor in his book Where People Fly and Water Runs Uphill (recommended text) states, 'All dreams come in the service of health and wholeness…and no dream ever comes to tell you what you already know.' This class will consist of lecture, experiential exercises and opportunities to share and explore the multiple layers of your dreams. We will include techniques to improve dream recall.
