LIFESTYLE-From the Ayurvedic perspective

Health is:
1. Balanced constitution (Doshas)
2. Well functioning digestive fire (Agni)

7. Pure soul Core of good health is good digestion. Eating healthy promotes good digestion. Every disease is from imbalance in digestion.

Recommended daily routine (Dinacharya):
1. Wake early in the morning
2. Pray before getting out of bed; stretch pose (YB)
3. Wash face, eyes and mouth with cold water
4. Clean teeth & tongue; bitter, astringent, pungent; neem(A); potassium alum & salt (YB); gag to clear monkey glands and cause 'catarac' tears (YB)
5. Gargle with sesame oil or triphala
6. Urinate: stop flow, several times (YB). Drink, middle 1/3. Promotes health.
7. Evacuate bowels; crow pose (YB)
8. Nose drops (2 in each nostril); nasaya
9. Oil massage; warm; sesame (A), almond (YB):
10. Shower; warm (A), cold (YB)
11. Yoga
12. Pranayam
13. Meditation
14. Work through the day, walk straight, sit straight, talk straight
15. Lunch
16. Work
17. Take a walk; 15 minutes minimum
18. Supper
19. Time with family/friends for love and affection
20. Prayer before bed
21. Sleep

TREATMENTS:

KATI BASTI (LOWER BACK THERAPY) Conditions of the Lumbo-sacral spine (lower back) and their pain management is confessed almost by every body under stress. Such stress may result from Life style, Physical work, Degeneration, Injury, Surgery and Arthritis. Ayurveda - science of life, recommends a gentle but a positive approach. It is a therapy known as KATI BASTI, where in warm herbal oil specific to the compliant is held in reserve on the affected area. This process is proficiently repeated several times in one application lasting for 30 minutes. The process is concluded with a soft massage of the lower back of the body followed with fomentation. Benefits - Pain relief, relaxation of muscles, increase in circulation, rejuvenation of degenerated tissue, augmentation of intervertibral spaces, and reduction in neurological symptoms. KATI BASTI is also indicated as preventive care in people who are at risk and can be carried out along with any conventional treatment. Ideally 5 applications are recommended for the treatment of conditions such as Chronic and acute back pains, Sciatica, Spondylosis, Stenosis of unknown origin, post surgical recovery, pain of traumatic origin, disc herniations and Degenerative diseases.

GREEVA BASTI (NECK TREATMENT) A pain in the neck is encountered over and over again for all the shrugged shoulder activities we do every day. A healthy and flexible neck is like a body with wings. Like the Lumbo sacral spine, cervical spine is also susceptible for injury. The causes vary widely and are similar to the Lumbar spine. GREEVA BASTI a process similar to KATI BASTI is the healing therapy that Ayurveda suggests. As mentioned above warm herbal oil specific to the condition is kept in contact on the involved region. In duration of 30 minutes the warm oil is circulated skillfully. A gentle massage and fomentation complete the process. Benefits - Pain relief, relaxation of muscles, Reduction in compression, relief in neurological complaints, increase in intervertibral spaces, and rejuvenation of damaged tissue. GREEVA BASTI is also indicated as preventive care in people who are at risk and can be carried out along with any conventional treatment. Ideally 5 applications are recommended for the treatment of conditions such as Sprains, cervical spondylosis, degenerative disorders, post surgical recovery and restrictions, stenosis of unknown cause, herniations of the intervertibral disc and acute/chronic neck pains.

JANU BASTI (KNEE TREATMENT) Nearly 80% of the population between 55-65 years is troubled by diseases of the knee. Being one of major weight bearing joints, wear and tear is also wide. The most common ailment is Osteo-arthritis (OA). The management of any disease of the Knee is unique in Ayurveda. One of the most effective treatment in reliving the pain and rejuvenating the joint is JANU BASTI. A procedure which involves warm herbal oil stagnated over the affected Knee for 30 minutes followed by a skillful massage and fomentation. Benefits - Pain relief, relaxation of muscles, increase in circulation in the area, lubrication of the joint, improvement in mobility and flexibility. JANU BASTI is also indicated as preventive care in people who are at risk and can be carried out along with any conventional treatment. Ideally 5 applications are recommended for the treatment of conditions such as Sprains, Ligament tear, Osteo-arthritis, post surgical distress, age related degeneration and sport injuries.
